Richard Maskin founded Dart Machinery in 1981 in a two-car garage in Oak Park, Michigan. Maskin keeps current with racing technology through Dart’s in-house engine R&D program. The centerpiece of Dart’s cylinder head development program is a massive wet-flow bench. In wet-flow testing, liquid is injected into the airstream to simulate the behavior of atomized fuel in the engine. The wet-flow bench has been used to refine the entire Dart portfolio of Platinum Series cast-iron and aluminum cylinder heads.

Dart’s Spintron is another essential tool in engine development. Outfitted with lasers and high-speed video cameras, the Spintron gives Dart technicians the ability to observe and analyze valve train components at high rpm.
